I literally watched this get downvoted in real-time. The “if you don’t have anything to hide” demographic must be waking up hungover on this lovely Sunday morning.
No right now they're derailing the conversation by saying "well akshully it isn't yet illegal" as if when cars were invented and no laws existed it was morally ok to drunk drive in them and run people over because "it wasn't illegal yet". Y'know since the current laws are moral absolutes and are the exact same when technology advances
There's a subset of people who literally only follow rules because they have to, and otherwise couldn't give any less of a fuck about how their actions affect people.
You know, the same people who ask "if you don't believe in God, what's stopping you from raping and murdering?"
Sure, you may not have anything to hide, but according to who? The ones in power are the ones who decide what is moral or legal. That's a disgusting level of power.
It wouldn’t be hard to create technology that does that. It probably is best to talk to people rather than assume upvoted/downvoted content is truthful.

Everyone is focused on Flock but which companies are quietly foaming at the mouth to replace them. How long will people continue to be vigilant if Flock collapses?
Americans identify generic products by the first prominent trademark associated with that product. Every surveillance camera is and will be a Flock, even after Flock is no more. Kleenex, Weed Wacker, Coke, on and on it goes.
I live next to a highway, and we were a target area for people to steal your car, jump on the highway, and disappear. 2019 was when they quietly installed all the LPRs, so we don't even have Flock. It was handled more than half a decade beforehand by the police department.
The hero we deserve. I'll even help you cut the pole so that you can get that camera so far up there the police will be able to see what you ate for dinner last night.
So it is about the Flock cameras. I heard the public cannot request to see who is accessing the data or control what they do with it. They didn’t even add that transparency.
That shit is really annoying and dystopian but it also piggybacks on laws that say you have no real right to privacy in public spaces and that allows you to film the cops and everyone acting out as well as feeds journalism and "journalism", so I doubt that laws that smack this shit down altogether will ever come out. Now cities putting pressure on the police departments and possibly defending them is possible in theory, but even places that are really blue are rarely "defund police to a point that they can't afford this shit" blue.
